About Dave
My seventy-seven year old mom still introduces me as her “youngin” (at fifty-five it keeps me feeling young). My six grandchildren call me “Papaw Dave” except for Abby who calls me “Pepoo.” My love for photography began as a child while looking through Granny’s cedar chest full of old pictures…you could spend hours and still not see them all.
I joined the US Airforce in 1971 and bought my first camera, a Kodak 110 Instamatic. Pictures of the morning sunrise above the clouds at 36,000 feet, two bear cubs at the top of a seventy foot Elm tree overlooking a lake high in the mountains of Yosemite National Park, pictures taken of the great Rocky mountains while driving at 80 mph, and hundreds of others, produced memories and a true love for the camera that I still treasure today.
I don’t hold a degree in photography, but a son that does and who has taught me well regarding apertures, white balance, speed relative to lighting, color balance, composition, camera shake, and many details regarding photography.
Like Jimmy, I hold to a strong faith in God, havea wonderful family and many friends, and am always willing to lend a helping hand.
